Compensation: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, plus overtime
Job Overview
Our client, an established and growing regional energy company, is looking to bring on an experienced Solar Technician to join a team that focuses on commercial and residential solar installation and service projects across Virginia and Maryland. This hire will be pivotal in supporting our client's growing volume of solar projects across the region. This is a full-time role with our client.
Job Responsibilities
Following all manufacturer guidelines, installing racking and railing equipment, inverters and other electrical equipment, solar modules, and any other mechanical or structural mounting systems for PV arrays
Completing the electrical wiring of solar arrays and BOS (balance of systems) equipment
Performing equipment commissioning, including web portal registration, optimizer creation
Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing previously installed systems when required
Clearly communicating directions to the installation crew members
Creating daily and weekly work plans for installation crew members
Providing training to less experienced solar technicians on specific installation techniques using industry best practices
Maintaining the service vehicle and traveling to customer locations across Maryland and Virginia
Communicating effectively with customers and managing customer expectations
Taking pictures and documenting all work completed and uploading the data to the internal company database
Ensuring all safety standards are met and adhered to
Ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code, site-specific safety plans, and other applicable laws, codes, regulations, and industry standards
Attending company meetings and training sessions
Successful Candidates Must Have:
At least 4 years of experience with the installation of residential and commercial solar systems
Experience with conduit bending, wire pulling, testing, and termination
Experience with equipment and instruments used for commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and IT-related systems, including (but not limited to): digital multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, megohmmeters, curve tracers, infrared imaging tools, and digital thermometers
Knowledge of the federal and local requirements pertaining to photovoltaic electric systems
Best practice knowledge for roofing
The ability to work at heights and in extreme environments
The ability to lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
A valid driver’s license and a clear criminal/civil background check, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
