Physician Assistant, Critical Care

The Physician Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to manage the care of critically ill adult patients.The PA functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary critical care team, working in close collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and performing invasive procedures in accordance with established protocols, policies, and evidence-based practice standards.The PA participates in the assessment and management of new admissions to the critical care unit and provides expert education, consultation, and patient advocacy to ensure optimal outcomes.Three 12-hour shifts per week.QualificationsLicensed to provide either Physician Assistant services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificationsCertification as an Acute Care Physician Assistant(ACPA)2+ years of critical care patient management experienceExcellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus.OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Compensation Information:$60.39 / Hourly - $68.10 / HourlyDetails:Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39-$68.10. This is a salaried position. Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.
