There is 2,300times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methanecombined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar,we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to makegeothermal a cheap and vital contributor to a carbon-free electrical grid.Field data is Zanskar’s life blood. We need passionate scientists to collect, prepare, and deliver highquality data and products to be utilized for discovery of resources, characterizing the subsurfaceand, ultimately, informing and derisking drilling and development decisions.Outcomes - Problems you’ll solveSuccess in this role includes being skilled in the planning, execution, and processing of a variety offield methods. Personnel will be expected to continually improve existing methods and may beinvolved or responsible for learning and deploying new methods in house to increase discoveryrates and inform decisions. This role will involve collaboration with project geologists, data scientists,land team and drilling engineers to execute surveys and deliver impactful data products.Competencies – What We’re Looking ForGeoscience Aptitude: A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, or a related fieldStrong foundation in geology and geothermal system fundamentalsPrior experience in independently executing and analyzing related field methods such as gravity, magnetics, MT, fluid geochemistry, LiDAR, image logs, and alteration mineralogy through professional or research experience outside of a classroom environment is highly desirableTechnical Aptitude: An innate curiosity and background for learning and leveraging different software/equipment/methods to understand and standardize best practices for operation while maintaining longevity and safetyResiliency: Demonstrates resilience by maintaining safety, productivity, and professionalism during long field deployments in challenging environments including desert or mountainous terrain with remote accessSuccessful candidates will excel working 10-12 hour days for 1-2 weeks in the field performing physical tasks to include, but not limited to, hiking, periodic bending and kneeling and lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 lbsStewardship: Must conduct and expect others to perform their responsibilities with respect and integrityRepresent Zanskar positively towards internal/external stakeholders and the environmentAt least 18 years oldEligible to work in the U.SValid driver’s license without any major infractions in the last three yearsPreferred QualificationsOSHA/MSHA/1st Aid/Wilderness safety trainingFAA Part 107 Remote Pilot CertificationExperience with commercial software such as Oasis Montaj, Geoscience Analyst, UgCS, Mission Planner, Leapfrog, or other open source programsProficiency in GIS with strong map/figure creation skillsBasic coding/data cleaning in PythonField mapping and wellsite geologyEqual Opportunity EmployerZanskar is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) that complies with all applicable federal, state,and local employment practice laws and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for allemployees.This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
