Atlas Excavating bids and builds the work most contractors avoid; deep sanitary sewer, wet excavation, groundwater control, bypass pumping, and heavy underground utilities. We own our equipment and self-perform dewatering, so our estimates are grounded in real production—not wishful allowances.The roleYou’ll own estimates from first review through bid day submission and post-bid scope review, pricing real means/methods (crews, production, trucking, shoring, bypass, dewatering approach) for public and private work across NW Indiana / Chicagoland.What you’ll doBuild complete bids: invite → takeoff → quotes → pricing → bid day submission → post-bid recapPerform quantity takeoffs (pipe/structures/earthwork/restoration/traffic control as applicable)Price means/methods with field reality: production rates, crew plans, trucking, shoring/boxes, bypass pumping, dewatering strategySolicit/level quotes and ensure full scope coverage (no gaps, no double-counting)Produce a clear bid recap: assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, risk items, alternatesSupport award handoff to PM/ops to protect the estimate in executionWhat we’re looking for4+ years estimating experience; underground utilities / heavy civil (sanitary/storm/water) preferredComfortable with public bid environments (addenda, bid forms, unit prices, bonds)Strong plan/spec reading and disciplined documentation of assumptionsExcel proficiency; clean, repeatable estimating habitsToolsBluebeam + Excel (required)HCSS HeavyBid (strongly preferred)AGTEK (nice to have)What you get at AtlasA contractor that self-performs and has the equipment to back up the planA seat with real ownership of bids and visibility with leadershipHealth/Dental/Vision + Life/AD&DCompany-paid life insuranceVoluntary life insurance401(k) match up to 5%Discretionary Profit Sharing ContributionEmployee Assistance ProgramTuition ReimbursementPTOPaid HolidaysLocation: Indianapolis, Indiana area (within -60 miles)Atlas is an equal opportunity employer.
