We are building our founding team in Boston, Massachusetts, offering a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and help shape the future of the company.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a highly motivated Senior/Principal Scientist with a background in protein/antibody engineering, recombinant expression and purification, and biochemical & biophysical characterization to join our growing R&D team. You will bring your expertise to contribute actively to characterization, validation, and differentiation of novel therapeutic concepts for rapid progression of preclinical biologics development against autoimmune diseases. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone excited about drug discovery and development who is driven to translate our findings into novel therapeutics while being mentored by experienced scientists.RESPONSIBILITIESLead protein/antibody expression and purification (transient and stable expression), stable CHO pool and clone generation for lead candidatesSupport protein/antibody and bispecific antibody engineering, vector engineering and recombinant protein production (transient and stable expression)Design, develop, and execute biophysical assays supporting developability assessment at different stages of lead characterizationSupport oversight of outsourced activities for lead antibody screening, protein production and analyticsCarry out cell line engineering and development to support cell-based potency assays.Support functional validation using cell-based immunoassays, immune cell profiling, cytokine profiling at different stages of lead characterizationCollaborate and develop close scientific partnerships with other functional teamsHelp build a culture that embraces scientific excellence and continuous learning to increase our team’s ability to deliver novel drug development opportunities through rapid incorporation of emerging techniques on the leading-edge of drug discoveryQUALIFICATIONSPhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field with 3-5+ years of industry experience, or master’s/bachelor’s with 10--12+ years of relevant experienceProven expertise in protein and antibody expression using mammalian systems, along with purification via chromatography techniques (affinity, SEC, IEX, HIC) and operation of FPLC systems (e.g., AKTA) along with expertise in developing and applying methods related to liquid phase chromatography for biologicsWell-versed in vector design and transient and stable cell line development (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems, lentiviral platforms, cell sorting, cell banking)Experience in protein engineering, including bispecific/multi-specific antibodies and Fc-fusion constructs, highly valuedExtensive experience with biochemical and biophysical characterization methods (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, DSC, icIEF, SPR, BLI, ELISA, WB, CE-based assays); experience with mass spectrometry is a plusExperience with immune cell–based assays, cytokine assays, qPCR, multi-color flow cytometry a plusExperience mentoring junior team members beneficialSKILLS & COMPETENCIESImpactful skills and demonstrated ability to help build key company capabilities supporting leadership and scientists with data gathering, analysis, and interpretationExcellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, including an ability to combine attention to detail with a big picture perspectiveStrong oral and written communication skills with experience presenting scientific research across all levels of the organization and the ability to prepare slides and author reports and manuscripts for internal and external presentationsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and evolving environment while remaining flexible, proactive, and resourcefulAdept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously, integrating cross-functional collaboration and balancing competing priorities effectivelyCollaborative and team-oriented mindset with a desire to positively impact a new company’s evolving cultureWinnow Therapeutics is an equal opportunity employer , providing equal opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex or gender identity, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or genetics.
