About the Opportunity:The Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Lake Analytics Platform) will shape and lead the development of the organization''s Lakehouse Platform, a critical analytical data infrastructure built on technologies like Apache Iceberg, Spark, and Snowflake. This role is responsible for enhancing data storage, governance, performance, and cost-efficiency, ensuring secure and accessible analytical data to support various teams including engineering, analytics, machine learning, and business units.3. Responsibilities:Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for the Lakehouse Platform balancing scalability, reliability, governance, performance, and cost.Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, trustworthy, and discoverable analytical data.Design and operate secure data access controls including RBAC, dynamic data masking, cataloging, and privacy enforcement.Partner with Analytics Engineering to improve data modeling, transformation pipelines, and data quality practices.Establish best practices for lakehouse operations such as schema evolution, table maintenance, compaction, and observability.Optimize analytical compute and storage performance and cost, including query optimization and warehouse tuning.Collaborate cross-functionally to translate stakeholder needs into robust platform architecture.Stay informed on industry trends related to lakehouse architecture, data governance, and AI-ready data infrastructure.Mentor engineers and foster a culture of design rigor, operational excellence, and continuous learning.4. Requirements:8+ years in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering, with 2+ years in technical leadership.Proven experience with large-scale OLAP systems and lakehouse platforms utilizing Apache Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud-native storage.Hands-on expertise in Snowflake or similar analytical warehouses, including access control, data masking, query profiling, and cost management.Strong understanding of data platform architecture aspects such as schema evolution, partitioning, compaction, data lifecycle, observability, and cost optimization.Experience in designing governed and trustworthy data platforms with RBAC, data quality, lineage, classification, privacy controls, and policy enforcement.Familiarity with analytics engineering foundations including dbt or similar frameworks, data modeling, testing, and CI/CD.Exposure to agentic data tools such as semantic layers, self-service analytics platforms, or AI-enabled data tools.Demonstrated technical leadership skills to guide platform initiatives and mentor engineers.Strong collaboration and communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.5.
