Overview:We are excited to partner with a growing Management, Development, and Construction company that has grown tremendously in the Southeast US. Our client seeks an experienced Controller who shares these values to join their team as they grow.About the Position:This is a key position overseeing all Accounting and Finance duties, including management of day-to-day accounting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting duties, and direct report management. Ideal candidates should have 10+ years of Multi-Family Property Accounting experience, with 5+ years of experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller, who is willing to be in the trenches and handle day-to-day accounting duties as well. This will be a great career opportunity for a candidate to grow into a director-level position, and later, a CFO.Position Type: Full-time, permanent position.Location: 100% on-site. Potential future opportunities for hybrid.Compensation: $115K, and potential for discretionary bonuses.Benefits: Health, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), travel reimbursements, phone allowance, and others.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage and oversee all day-to-day accounting responsibilities.Oversee all reporting schedules and ensure financial reporting is completed and delivered accurately and timely to the Senior Vice President, Regional Managers, Property Managers, and clients.Manage and complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.Conduct quarterly and yearly tax fillings and ensure 401(k) compliance audits are completed timely and accurately.Review accuracy for capital projections and cost summaries and ensure all accounting activities are on schedule.Partnered with various external auditors per request of property owners.Lead and perform budget creation, evaluations, and variance analysis.Handle and perform all payroll duties.Assist with day-to-day accounting duties including monitoring and maintaining cash balances, various account reconciliations, and other accounting duties as needed.Manage 2 direct reports (Accounts Payable and Property Accountant) to conduct performance evaluations and effective mentorship.Oversee Property Accounting and Accounts Payable to ensure prompt and accurate completion; Assist in these areas as needed.Lead and oversee necessary process improvement efforts as the team and company grow.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or related fields.10+ years of accounting experience in Multi-Family Property or Real Estate industries.5+ years of accounting management experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller.Strong experience with MS Excel, QuickBooks, and Yardi is required.Strong Financial Analysis abilities and Payroll Experience are highly preferred.A self-sufficient, self-starter individual with high levels of initiative.Must enjoy a fast-paced environment and wear many hats in support of day-to-day Accounting & Finance operations.** HireCapital and our clients are equal-opportunity employers.
