This is a hands-on, in-the-field role focused on community outreach, events, and brand representation.

About the Role
This is not a behind-the-scenes internship.
As our Marketing Intern, you will be out in the Portsmouth community building relationships, increasing visibility, and helping drive business during our busiest season.
You’ll work directly with ownership and our marketing team to support campaigns while taking ownership of in-person outreach and local marketing efforts.
This role requires initiative, preparation, and confidence—you will often be representing the brand independently.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Brand Representation (Primary Focus)
Research and update contact lists for local businesses, hotels, and tourism partners
Visit local businesses to introduce Monkey Mind Escape Rooms and share current offerings
Build relationships and identify partnership opportunities
Distribute and maintain marketing materials
Represent the brand professionally in the community and at events
Campaign & Project Support
Research and execute the lodging outreach campaign targeting local hotels and inns
Lead the seasonal summer reading programs initiative with local libraries
Research, develop, and execute outreach to local community stakeholders and partners
Events & Promotions
Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown at local Market Square Day event
Evaluate local events for alignment with target audience, budget, and timing
Engage with the public and promote the Monkey Mind experience
Help ensure materials, signage, and giveaways are prepared and organized
Content & Marketing Support
Capture photos/videos during outreach and events
Assist with marketing materials using Canva, CapCut, or similar tools
Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign ideas
Assist with on-the-ground marketing efforts for a new room launch
Tracking & Organization
Maintain a log of outreach efforts, contacts, and results
Assist with organizing marketing materials and inventory

Bonus Qualifications
Experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, or events
Familiarity with Canva, social media, or content creation
Interest in marketing, tourism, or local business

Compensation & Benefits
$18 per hour
Reimbursement for the Portsmouth Workforce Parking Program
As part of training, you’ll play through all Monkey Mind escape rooms (you’ll bring friends or family to join you) at no cost
Schedule
Approximately 10–20 hours per week, with scheduling based on active projects and campaign needs
Primarily weekday daytime hours for outreach
Occasional evenings or weekends for events
Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
Availability from mid-May through mid-August
Access to a personal laptop for project work and communication (a company laptop may be available if needed)
Pay: $18.00 per hour
