Director of Shelter Services Hours: 35-40 hours per week; day shift 8am to 4pm Location: Hillsboro Benefits: Employer paid medical/vision/dental for employee (100%) and 50% covered for dependents. 10 days of Vacation, 5 days of PTO, 7 paid holidays, professional development opportunities, and a flexible work schedule. POSITION SUMMARY: Open Door HousingWorks has a 38-year history of helping people experiencing homelessness in Washington County. The Director of Shelter Services will oversee shelter-based services to homeless. This program offers medium-term rental subsidies combined with linkages to employment and other services to end households’ homelessness as well as create longer term self-sufficiency. Reports to: Executive Director Employment Status: Full-time, exempt ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee service plans with households that supports housing goals, increases income and mainstream benefits, supports employment opportunities, and addresses mental health/substance abuse issues, relapse prevention, medication management and any other risk factors that could impede accessing and/or maintaining permanent housing. Support case manager staff as they navigate the housing process, including, but not limited to, housing location, landlord advocacy, rental application process, credit repair support, move-in support, and budgeting. Support case management services that will ensure successful permanent housing, decrease social isolation, and reduce relapse risks, advocacy to deter evictions, and linkage and brokerage to any needed services such as medical/dental, mental health, substance abuse, life skills training, self-help, money management, meaningful community activities, volunteer services, job placement, etc. Develop and implement comprehensive shelter programs that address the needs of diverse populations, including homeless individuals, families, and those with special needs. Oversee the efficient allocation and management of shelter resources, including funding, supplies, and facilities. Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and government agencies to provide additional support and resources to shelter clients. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrate knowledge of substance abuse programs, homeless programs, and mental health services within the Washington County. Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of case management principles and intervention techniques specific to hard-to-reach, difficult to serve populations. Education: Bachelors/Masters from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, or a related field.
