Research Scientist (Charlotte)

Archroma is seeking motivated Scientist to join the Packaging and Biomaterials R&D team in Charlotte, NC. This new role will support the development of innovative sustainable coatings, barrier technologies, bio-based materials for paper and packaging applications.Responsibilities:Develop and formulate waterborne coatings, barrier coatings, and bio-based materials for packaging applications.Conduct laboratory experiments, characterization, and performance testing.Support customer trial, scale-up activities, and troubleshooting.Collaborate with cross-functional global teams including R&D, application group, product management, and manufacturing.Generate technical reports, presentations, and innovation ideas supporting new product development.Requirements:MS or PhD in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.Experience in coatings, emulsion polymerization, paper chemicals, packaging materials, adhesives, or bio-based technologies preferred.Knowledge of waterborne polymers, polysaccharides, barrier coatings, or paper coating technologies is plus.Strong hands-on laboratory and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in fast-paced collaborative innovation environment.Potential Projects:Acrylic emulsions or polyurethane dispersionsPaper & packaging coatingsBarrier coating technologiesSustainable or recyclable packaging solutions.This role offers an opportunity to contribute to next-generation sustainable packaging technologies within a global innovation organization.
