Elementary Health & Physical Education Teacher
Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Health & Physical Education Teacher to join the Central Dauphin School District. This full-time position is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students in grades K-5. The ideal candidate will promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and social-emotional well-being while encouraging students to develop a lifelong appreciation for health and physical activity. Responsibilities - Develop and implement a comprehensive health and physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals. - Create lesson plans that are engaging, age-appropriate, and differentiated to meet the diverse needs of all students. - Teach essential skills in physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy living through a variety of activities and sports. - Assess and evaluate student performance through formal and informal assessments, providing constructive feedback to support growth. - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and promotes respect and cooperation among peers. - Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to promote health and wellness initiatives within the school and district. - Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in health and physical education. - Supervise students during physical activities and ensure their safety and well-being at all times. - Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress. - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field. - Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Health and Physical Education for elementary education. - Previous teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred. - Strong knowledge of health and physical education standards and best practices. - Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for diverse learners. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. - Commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and support within the classroom. - Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with the school community. - Current certification in CPR and First Aid preferred. - Background check clearance as required by state regulations.
