The HR Generalist is responsible for the on-site execution of Human Resources strategy in our Brooklyn location. Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, this role serves as a key partner to site leadership, ensuring alignment between business objectives and HR initiatives. This position oversees core HR operations including payroll and time & attendance, employee engagement and talent acquisition.Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $95,000 depending on experience.Role requires fluency in Spanish to support day‑to‑day operations and employee communication.This role is 100% onsite at our Brooklyn, NY location:TC Transcontinental975 Essex StreetBrooklyn, NY 11208What You’ll Do Payroll & Time and Attendance Oversight:Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission for hourly and salaried employees (exempt and non-exempt)Manage time and attendance systems, ensuring proper tracking, approvals, and adherence to company policiesPartner with managers to resolve discrepancies and drive accountability for accurate time reporting.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for the site, including hourly and salaried rolesPartner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategiesCoordinate interviews, manage candidate experience, and support offer processes.Monitor hiring metrics and support workforce planning initiatives to meet operational demands Employee Engagement & Culture:Lead and execute employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture Oversee employee recognition programs, events, and site-level engagement activitiesPartner with leadership to drive morale, retention, and overall employee satisfactionGather feedback and analyze engagement trends to inform action planning HR Strategy Execution & Business Partnership:Partner with the General Manager and site leadership (Operations and Commercial) to support business growth and workforce planningProvide guidance and coaching to managers on HR policies, employee relations and performance managementSupport the execution of strategic initiatives tied to Vision100 and overall site performance Performance Management, Labor Relations & Compliance:Interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) to ensure consistent application across the siteSupport grievance processes, including fact-finding, documentation, and resolution in alignment with contractual obligationsPartner with managers to address employee relations matters, ensuring adherence to due process and union protocolsConduct investigations and maintain thorough, compliant documentationWhat You BringEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred Technical Skills3–7+ years of progressive HR experience Experience in Flexible packaging and/or printing, converting equipment a plus.Soft SkillsStrong knowledge of payroll processes, timekeeping systems, and employment lawsProven experience in recruiting and employee engagement initiativesDemonstrated ability to partner with leadership and influence decision-makingStrong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsSkilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with union representatives and stewardsStrong understanding of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with the ability to interpret, apply, and administer contract provisions consistently and fairlyProficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office SuiteWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation with performance-based incentives and retirement savings plans with company matchCustomizable group benefits including health, dental, life, disability, and travel insurancePaid time offCareer development opportunitiesA dynamic, inclusive work environment where your voice matters and your growth is supported
