Sr. Structural Engineer
The qualified Senior Structural Engineer will support its Corporate Engineering Center (CEC), with a primary focus on design and engineering activities related to the safe operation and maintenance of the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP) in Covert, Michigan, which is scheduled to restart in early 2026. This position is based at the Company’s KPS Technology Campus in Camden, New Jersey, and requires limited travel to PNP on an as-needed basis.The Senior Structural/Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with site personnel at PNP and other members of Holtec’s CEC to implement plant design modifications, respond to regulatory inquiries, and resolve emergent engineering issues.Location: Camden (NJ)Primary Responsibilities:Performing structural and mechanical analyses in accordance with the plant design basis and applicable nuclear industry codes and standardsPreparing detailed technical reports, calculations, and engineering evaluationsReviewing drawings, calculations, and other engineering deliverables developed by peersSupporting plant modifications and engineering change processesProviding technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineersDepending on plant needs and project demands, this role may also contribute to broader engineering initiatives within Holtec’s Nuclear Power Division (NPD) and/or Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Division.Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering5+ years of professional experience in engineering related fieldKnowledge of structural design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AISC, ACI, ASCE)Experience with numerical analysis methods (e.g., finite element analysis)Capable of reading shop/fabrication, assembly, and structural drawingsDisplay creative thinking and analytical skills to resolve design issues effectivelyExcellent technical writing and communication skillsAdvanced Degree in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)Prior experience in nuclear industryExperience using ANSYS Workbench, STAAD.Pro and/or LS-DYNA softwareKnowledge of material failure mechanisms such as fatigue, brittle fracture, and creepKnowledge of earthquake engineering and/or experience with seismic analysis methodsWe Believe Great Work Deserves Great Rewards.
