Kresge College: Elective Courses Pre-six Lecturer
Salary range:
A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach the standard five-credit course is $8,872 - $15,104 (based on salary points 1-19). Please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay).
Percent time:
Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start:
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in spring quarter 2026 through spring quarter 2027. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
Position duration:
Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position description
Kresge College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach Kresge College enhancement courses. These courses are meant to contribute to a diverse liberal arts program, expand general education options, provide opportunities for learning across disciplines, and to explore collaborative and experimental approaches to higher learning.
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
Expertise in film and media studies, creative and nonfiction writing, ecology and environmental studies, art and community, political and social justice, and other interdisciplinary fields.
PhD or MFA.
Five or more years' university level teaching experience.
Demonstrated record of working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.
The hiring unit will not sponsor employment-eligible immigration statuses for this position.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at the time the application is submitted)
M.A/M.S. (or equivalent foreign degree), or five years' equivalent professional experience in artistic or creative work consisting of publications, exhibitions, or performances.
University-level teaching experience.
