The Assistant Controller's chief tasks include but are not limited to:
Reconcile and/or oversee all G/L accounts
Reconcile and/or oversee bank account reconciliation
Reconcile loan payments and maintain loan schedules and spreadsheets
Monitor cash flow and project funding requirements
Manage cash applications and billing accuracy
Fixed assets management & reporting
Oversee and manage all aspects of the general ledger, including fixed assets and lease accounting (ASC 842).
Prepare and/or oversee various reporting of federal, state, and local tax
Assist in preparation of financial statements
Assist with annual financial audits
Prepare and or oversee various management reports
Oversee the operation of accounting activities for all entities
Develop and maintain documentation system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization
Oversee production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards
Work with external auditors and provide needed information for annual audits
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government requirements
Provide guidance on accounting matters and cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with GAAP and business objectives.
Produce lease schedules according to ASC 842
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Required skills: Excellent management and supervisory skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and time management
Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with large ERP systems, accounting tools, and advanced Excel; experience with Vista/Viewpoint accounting software is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Ten years or more of related experience required
Construction industry experience is a plus.
