Bereavement Program Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising the Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program and for the delivery of related services, to include patients and families both at Hospice and in the community at large. This position is responsible for the training and supervision of Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program volunteers, interns and employees.Job Status: Full Time/ ExemptJob Relationships:Reports To: CEOSupervises: Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program Counselors, Program Assistant, Interns, and Volunteers.Qualifications:LPC or LPC-S PreferredMaster’s Degree in Counseling preferredDemonstrated clinical experience in the areas of grief and loss, trauma, child and adolescent death and dying issues, individual, family and group therapy.Leadership skills and experience including professionalism, emotional intelligence, organization, and coaching/development.Demonstrated skill in administrative performance including expertise with both written and oral communication, supervision of volunteers and/or staff, documentation and evaluation requirements, and program management.Suitable personal appearance, behavior, attitude, integrity, and excellent interpersonal communication and relationship skills.Acts as team player by being flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and dealing well with others.Able to problem solve, make decisions, set priorities, and keep accurate and orderly records.Demonstrated computer and technology skills and knowledge required.Duties And Responsibilities AdministrativeDevelops and oversees the Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program of Hope Hospice, including policies & procedures as needed.Coordinates and evaluates Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief program follow-up, and performance improvement plans.Ensures compliance with CHAP standards and regulatory and legal requirements.Completes and provides regular reporting and metrics on program performance and compliance to CEO and Executive Leadership or Board of Directors as required.Collaborates with Development Department to develop and submit Grant applications and other opportunities for fundraising for Grief and Bereavement programs. Education/Community LiaisonServes as an educator and public relations person to those in the community requesting bereavement and children’s grief program services and information, regardless of whether they received hospice services.Serves as a liaison between Hospice and other agencies dealing with bereavement/children’s grief or related areas, offering expertise to community members and organizations impacted by loss.Works to develop the agency as a recognized resource for community education and services for bereavement/children’s grief services. Works with Development Department r to inform the community about bereavement/children’s grief programs and events. Direct ServicesOversees assignments of Bereavement and Children’s Grief Program volunteers and provides supervision, in conjunction with the Director of Mission Support ServicesOversees and provides support for the adult and children’s grief program support groups, memorial services, activities, and camps as needed.Provides direct services to adults, children, and families by: intake sessions, support groups, counseling, maintaining telephone contact, and/or making referrals to appropriate private therapists and/or agencies.Coordinates orientation and training for Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program staff, volunteers, and interns.Provides Bereavement/Grief department information for new employee orientation and patient companion volunteer training.Oversees and supports any special events for the Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief ProgramAssists with coordination and oversight of Camp HavenHeart.Directs recruitment, screening, and training of volunteers for the Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program (including Camp HavenHeart).Assists Volunteer Program Manager with recruitment, screening, and training of other Hope Hospice volunteer roles. Supervision/EvaluationMonitor and evaluate performance of Bereavement Program and Children’s Grief Program staff, volunteers, and interns, including an annual performance review.Recruits and supervises student interns & LPC Interns as needed for program growth.Develop educational programs based on assessed needs of the clients, community, and volunteers.Assure volunteers’ compliance with agency policies and procedures.Assists with maintenance of personnel records for each volunteer detailing activities performed, orientation and training, competency assessments, TB and Hep B records, and annual performance review.Assess the effectiveness of the program in services provided, events and activities in support of client and community needs, capacity to meet counseling needs, staff performance, recruiting and retaining volunteers.
