Job SummaryThe Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice. RNs collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes, while providing compassionate, individualized care across a wide spectrum of medical conditions.ED nurses must be highly adaptable, able to respond to unpredictable patient volumes and acuities, and skilled at prioritizing care in a fast-paced environment. They serve as active contributors to patient flow, throughput, and quality improvement initiatives while upholding the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.Key Responsibilities Provide safe, effective, and timely care to patients of all ages and acuity levels. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care using scientific nursing principles. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve desired outcomes. Actively contribute to ED flow, throughput, and hospital initiatives. Uphold professional appearance, communication, and decorum as the ED is the hospital's "front door.” Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical nursing standards. Requirements Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (Diploma or ADN). Experience: No prior experience required. Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) – Texas license. Required prior to completion of unit orientation: CPR/BLS ACLS ENPC and/or PALS NIHSS Within 18 months of hire: TNCC Skills & Competencies: Strong initiative and active participation in ED operations. Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing patient acuity and volume. Sense of urgency to provide safe and efficient care. Professionalism and effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
