Location: Alhambra, CA (Onsite)Position SummaryThe Test Operator 1 is responsible for performing tests on the III-V photonic wafer products, including DFB lasers, gain chips, and other InP-based devices, following wafer fabrication and shipping to over-sea OSATs. This entry-level role operates under close supervision, executing established test procedures to verify optical and electrical performance, sorting and binning devices per spec, and maintaining accurate test records. The Test Operator 1 supports on-time delivery of tested products while building foundational knowledge of photonic device characterization.ResponsibilitiesDevice Testing & Equipment OperationOperate test equipment under direct supervision, including:Optical test stations (power, wavelength, spectral characterization)Electrical test equipment (I-V curve tracers, parametric testers)Burn-in and reliability test chambersExecute test procedures according to SOPs and test specificationsLoad, handle, and unload devices with care to prevent damageEnsure proper lot tracking and movement through MES/travelersData Recording & Quality ControlRecord test results, pass/fail data, and equipment logs accuratelySort and bin devices according to test specificationsFlag out-of-spec or abnormal results and escalate to Test Operator 2, Technician, or EngineeringMaintain basic awareness of test data trendsWIP Management & DocumentationTrack device/lot status and ensure correct flow through the test processSupport cycle time targets and prioritize lot movement as directedMaintain clean and organized test areaSupport & DevelopmentAssist with engineering on test station setups and qualification as directedFollow all safety, ESD, and handling procedures for sensitive III-V devicesParticipate in on-the-job training to build toward Test Operator 2 proficiencyMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to follow detailed SOPs and test procedures under supervisionBasic understanding of electronic/optical measurement concepts (or willingness to learn)Strong attention to detail and precision handling of fragile devicesAbility to accurately record and enter dataAbility to work in a cleanroom or ESD-controlled environment for extended periodsAbility to wear full cleanroom gown/ESD attire as requiredReliable, punctual, and able to work in a structured, process-driven environmentDesired QualificationsPrior experience in photonics manufacturing and cleanroom testing environmentExperience working with automatic test stations, devices burn-in stations, and test devices handlingFamiliar with using microscope, optical spectrum analyzer, digital multi-meter, and laser controllersBasic exposure to semiconductor, photonics, or optics conceptsGood communication and teamwork skillsStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityThe intent of this job description is to describe the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
