Occupational Therapist Location: Alpena, MI Agency: Mindlance Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position ID: 74525579 Shift: 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Monday-Friday, roughly 9-5:30pm, weekend rotation (1 per month) Description: Salary Range: $32.00 (goes up based on experience.)$14,000 sign on bonus, 2-year commitmentAgency Placement Fee: 25%Occupational Therapist I - This position delegatesresponsibility to the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Aides. Activities ofthis position are patient focused and utilize assessment, planning,intervention, and evaluation in accordance with occupational therapy standards,physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.Areas treated: Primarily outpatient but do float to acute care sometimes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIESEvaluates the patient s function by performingformal/informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological,respiratory, cardiovascular status, developmental, social, and cognitivefunctions.Develops a goal specific treatment regime based onassessment data and the patient s tolerance to carry-out the treatment plan asprescribed.Submits a written treatment regime to be included as partof the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician.Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Co-signsverbal orders received by occupational therapist assistant as necessary.Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency andduration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and coordinatedwith clinical support staff.Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regardingpathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale fortreatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.Provides supervision for Occupational TherapistAssistants, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatorystandards.OTHER DUTIES AND adaptive/supportive equipment based onassessment; contacts appropriate representative and/or supplier to place orderand assists in securing equipment for patient.Documents the patient/family/caregiver response totreatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policiesand/or standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies.JOB DESCRIPTIONCompletes daily documentation necessary forbilling procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatoryagenciesProvides treatment intervention and demonstratescompetence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to therapist spatient care area.Educates patient/family/caregiver in homeeducation program using relevant and effective teaching methods.Demonstrates effective oral and writtencommunication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality ofpatient care including coordination with interdisciplinary team members.Promotes education and development among staff,students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teachingmethods.Promotes process improvement.Assists with program development.Participates in team conferences andinterdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.Promotes occupational therapy within MyMichiganHealth and service area, participating in and providing community education.Function as case manager for assigned cases.Demonstrates commitment to MyMichigan Health andspecific affiliate mission as evidenced by customer service, quality ofservice, and teamwork.Maintains confidentiality of patient andaffiliate information in accordance with MyMichigan Health and affiliatepolicies and procedures.Other duties as assigned.MyMichigan Health is a technology drivenorganization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows. An employee may be required to participate in further learningopportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL to stressful situations, includingthose involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.Able to wear personal protective equipment thatincludes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for yourposition.Is able to move freely about facility with orwithout an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the jobas outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with orwithout assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for longperiods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping,kneeling or crouching.Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and otherpotentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodbornepathogen and TB testing as required.Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along withothers, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability tostay awake.Overall dexterity is required includinghandling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition ofthese movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level: Medium. Successful completion of new hire competency.Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbaland written communication in the English language to interact with peopleindividually and in a group at all levels.Ability to work independently, demonstratingproblem solving and organizational skills, time management skills andinitiative.Mandatory Occupational Safety and HealthAdministration (OSHA) is required and must be completed annually according tothe Exposure Control Plan.Ability to work where employee may be exposed tocommunicable diseases.
