Charge Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Title: Registered Nurse Medical Surgical (Charge RN) Location: Millen, GA Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shift 3x12 or 4x12 (19:00 07:00); alternating schedule (M, Tu, Fr, Sa one week / Su, W, Th the following week); every other weekend Job Responsibilities:Serve as Charge RN for a 10-bed Medical-Surgical unit.Oversee and support nursing staff while managing patient care assignments.Provide direct patient care with a maximum 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio.Respond to emergencies and assist other departments as needed (Charge RN responsible for responding in emergency situations).Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments.Manage cardiac monitoring and emergency response situations.Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.Activate and collaborate with Rapid Response/Code teams.Provide respiratory care including:BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenanceChest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac preferred)Interpretation of ABGs (preferred)Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy including:Starting and maintaining IVsBlood product administrationPhlebotomyCare for patients with neurological and psychiatric conditions including:CVA (Stroke)Mood disordersSpinal cord injuriesManage orthopedic trauma patients.Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols.Perform intubation as needed.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Phlebotomy.Document in CPSI charting system (training provided if needed).Required Skills & Qualifications:Active RN license.Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience.Previous Charge RN experience required.Experience with 1:5 patient ratios.BLS (required).ACLS (required).Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills.Ability to float in emergency situations.Must work every other weekend.No RTO permitted.First-time travelers accepted.Former permanent employees not eligible to return as travelers.Preferred Qualifications:PALS certification.Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac).Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.Interpretation of ABGs.Experience with CPSI charting system (not required; training provided).
