Senior Cloud Developer – AWS / Python

*Position Overview*

• Our client is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Cloud Developer to join their Software Application team and support the migration, modernization, and development of applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• This is a true software application development role and is not an Infrastructure, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Data Engineering position.
• The ideal candidate will be a senior backend/application developer with a strong Java development background who has evolved into Python and AWS cloud development. The candidate must be comfortable designing solutions, developing production-quality code, and troubleshooting applications in a cloud-native environment.
• Quality is the top priority. Lead- or Architect-level candidates are welcome; however, they must remain highly hands-on and continue to write production code regularly.

*Key Responsibilities : *

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend applications and cloud-native services.
• Develop and maintain production-grade applications using Python and AWS.
• Support the migration and modernization of existing Java-based applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
• Design and develop new cloud-native applications and services using Python.
• Develop AWS Lambda functions and serverless applications.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and other application interfaces.
• Design scalable, highly available, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Develop and support event-driven architectures using Kafka and related technologies.
• Work extensively with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch.
• Participate in application architecture, system design, technical planning, and architectural discussions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot application and production issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, architects, and other technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Follow software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.

*Required Qualifications : *

• 14–15+ years of overall software/application/cloud development experience preferred.
• Extensive hands-on experience developing applications on AWS.
• Strong Python development experience, typically 5+ years.
• Strong prior experience with Java development.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development.
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Proven experience designing and developing APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Strong experience with AWS Step Functions.
• Strong experience using Amazon CloudWatch for application monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of system design, cloud architecture, scalability, reliability, and application modernization.
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex application and production issues.
• Must be highly hands-on and actively involved in writing production code.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
• Significant professional experience working in the United States is strongly preferred.
• AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, is preferred.

• Strong API development and integration experience.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Terraform/IaC.
• A proven track record of designing, developing, and supporting production-grade applications.
• The ability to remain hands-on even when operating at a Lead or Architect level.

*The client is specifically seeking software/application developers who build and modernize applications in AWS.Candidates with a strong combination of Java + Python + AWS + Lambda + API + Terraform experience will be highly preferred*.
