Site Reliability Engineer

Job Title: Network SRELocation: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – Local candidates only)Employment Type: Contract (W2 / C2C) – Long-term engagementIndustry: Financial ServicesThe Opportunity:We are seeking a seasoned Network SRE for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading financial institution based in Phoenix. This is a high-visibility role focused on driving automation, observability, and reliability into a large-scale, mission-critical network environment.We are looking for an engineer who treats operations like software engineering—someone who can code, automate, and build resilience into the network fabric rather than just reacting to tickets. If you thrive in high-stakes environments and have a passion for eliminating toil through code, we want to talk to you.What You’ll Own:Automation: Develop Python/Go scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate network provisioning, configuration management, and Day-2 operations.Observability: Build and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog) to ensure deep visibility into network performance and health.SRE Practices: Define and track SLIs/SLOs for network latency, throughput, and availability. Lead blameless post-mortems and drive RCA to permanent resolution.Infrastructure as Code: Implement IaC for network devices and cloud networking components (AWS/Azure).Capacity Planning: Analyze traffic patterns and forecast capacity needs to prevent service degradation during peak loads.Must-Have Requirements:Experience: 5+ years in Network Engineering or SRE roles with a heavy automation focus.Network Stack: Deep expertise with Cisco (routing/switching) and Palo Alto firewalls. Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN/EVPN.Coding: Strong proficiency in Python (must-have) or Go.Automation Tools: Extensive hands-on experience with Ansible (Tower/AWX) and REST APIs.Cloud: Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking (AWS Direct Connect / Azure ExpressRoute).Availability: Must be able to work a hybrid schedule in Phoenix, AZ.Preferred Qualifications:CCIE, PCNSE, or cloud networking certifications.Experience with network telemetry and streaming data.Prior experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is a plus.
