This role is essential in supporting Unity Health Care?s mission to provide compassionate and culturally competent care to underserved populations throughout Washington, D.C. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients under physician supervisionObtain medical histories and conduct physical examsOrder and interpret laboratory/radiology testsDiagnose conditions and prescribe medications, including controlled substances (with DEA license)Provide health maintenance education and participate in screening programsRefer patients to specialists, 24-hour shelters, and hospitals as neededManage acute and chronic illnesses within scope of practiceProvide immediate care and coordinate transport to hospitals when necessaryEnsure documentation includes supervising physician?s nameSubmit delegation agreement to DC Medical BoardEnsure notes and orders are countersigned within 10 daysCollaborate with clinical teams on treatment and care plansParticipate in peer reviews and quality improvement effortsAttend required meetings and perform additional duties as needed QualificationsGraduate of an accredited physician assistant programMust pass NCCPA exam and hold current DC PA License Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPrefer 2?3 years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, ideally with underserved populationsFamiliarity with standard clinical practices and protocols Supervisory Controls Reports directly to the Medical Director.
