We are looking for a seasoned UX leader to establish and drive this function. This is a great opportunity for someone to set up the function from scratch—including hiring the UX team, setting up processes, and leading the team.The Sr Director, User Experience Design will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the overall user experience across all digital platforms and products. This strategic role involves collaborating with cross‐functional teams to develop and execute a comprehensive UX strategy that aligns with the company's business goals.The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in user‐centered design and a proven ability to lead and inspire a team of UX professionals. Initially the role is expected to spend around 40 % of the time on hands‐on delivery of UX artifacts and the remaining time on leadership and strategy.Location : The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100 % remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States, with a preference for East Coast hours.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and articulate a clear UX vision and strategy that aligns with the company's overall objectives.Lead and mentor a team of UX designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.Collaborate with key stakeholders—including business owners, developers, product managers, technologists, and project managers—to ensure seamless integration of user experience principles throughout the digital product development lifecycle.Conduct user research to gain insights into user behaviors, needs, and preferences.Analyze data and feedback to identify opportunities for improving the user experience and inform design decisions.Drive the creation of user personas, journey maps, and wireframes to guide the design process.Ensure consistency in design elements and interactions across all digital platforms.Oversee the development of high‐fidelity prototypes for user testing and stakeholder review.Maintain the American Red Cross design system with a library of reusable components based on ARC brand guidelines.Drive the process of creating visual treatments for finalized wireframes.Implement and lead usability testing programs to gather feedback and validate design decisions.Collaborate with the development team to iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results.Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX design.Provide recommendations for incorporating new technologies and methodologies to enhance the user experience.What You Need to SucceedBachelor's or Master's degree in Human‐Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field.At least 10 years of experience, with at least 7 years in UX design.At least 7 years of experience in a leadership role within UX design (including 3 years leading a team).Strong portfolio showcasing successful UX design projects and measurable impact on user satisfaction.Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or Figma.Intellectual curiosity and the ability to take charge, apply industry best practices, and drive positive business outcomes.Willingness to push boundaries and overcome obstacles.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and justify design decisions to stakeholders.Strong ability to present and engage with executives.CompensationThe starting annual salary range for this position is $175,000 – $210,000.
