Event Chef
5 Acres – Rockefeller Center | New York, NY 5 Acres at Rockefeller Center is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Event & Programming Chef to oversee and expand our growing events, catering, and programming initiatives. This role will lead the culinary execution of office catering throughout Rockefeller Center, private events, seasonal activations, and pop-up concepts including summer and winter programming. The ideal candidate is a highly organized chef with strong leadership and operational skills who thrives in environments that combine restaurant operations, events, and creative hospitality experiences. ResponsibilitiesOversee the culinary execution of all catering and office delivery programs originating from 5 Acres. Lead the development and execution of private events and corporate gatherings . Manage culinary operations for our dedicated event space , including menu development, prep systems, staffing, and service execution. Help design and execute seasonal pop-up concepts and themed programming , including summer and winter activations. Collaborate with ownership and management on creative event programming and special culinary experiences . Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation across all event formats. Oversee ordering, inventory, and cost controls related to events and catering. Train and supervise kitchen staff assigned to events, catering, and pop-up activations. Qualifications3–5+ years of leadership experience as a chef or sous chef. Demonstrated experience in events, catering, food trucks, or large-scale off-site production . Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously . Experience working with restaurant management systems such as Toast, Resy, OpenTable, 7shifts, MarginEdge, or similar platforms . NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate required. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across culinary and operations teams. Experience with high-volume service and event logistics preferred.
