Process Safety Scientist I

Job SummaryThe Process Safety Scientist I is responsible for the testing of process materials to determine hazards associated with chemical processes. This entry-level role focuses on conducting guided experiements, operating laboratory equipment, and compiling data into Process Safety Data Reports to support Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and other departments. Work is closely supervised, with an emphasis on developing technical skills, laboratory best practices, and safety awareness.Duties And Responsibilities Perform guided experiments under supervision to collect relevant process safety data in a timely manner. Operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures. Compile and document data in standardized Process Safety Data Reports with accuracy and attention to detail. Conduct laboratory inspections using established checklists to maintain a safe and professional environment Participate in Process Research &Development meetings. Maintain proper documentation and records in compliance with internal standards. Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary project teams. Supports broader Research &Development activities as needed. Maintain a strong focus on safety, organization, and data integrity. Ability to solve problems and have strong organizational skills. May perform other duties as assigned. Page BreakEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry or related field; and0-1 years related technical or laboratory experience. Competencies/Skills Foundational knowledge of organic chemistry principles. Ability to act with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and data integrity. Problem solving and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates excellent writing and communication skills (both verbal and technical). Organized, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES Not Applicable WORKING CONDITIONS Participates in production support including nights, weekends, and holidays.This role may involve work in laboratory or manufacturing environments with potential exposure to chemicals or other regulated substances.
