Position Summary

We’re seeking a proactive and highly independent Safety Manager to join our team as a department of one — someone who thrives in the field and can lead safety initiatives with confidence and expertise. This position reports directly to the President.
The Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all company safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires extensive field presence on active job sites, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety policies and procedures
Conduct daily and weekly job site safety audits and hazard assessments
Lead OSHA compliance efforts and ensure adherence across all operations
Facilitate toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing safety training
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and complete associated reporting
Manage workers’ compensation cases, return-to-work coordination, and related documentation
Maintain and analyze safety metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
Collaborate closely with field leadership to build a strong safety-first culture
Ensure subcontractor compliance with company safety requirements
Maintain knowledge of current safety regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
5-7 years of safety experience in construction, preferably heavy highway/civil
Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required
First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Proven ability to conduct investigations and manage claims/case follow-up
Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
Valid driver’s license with the ability to regularly travel to job sites
Highly independent and self-driven — able to operate as a one-person department
