Assistant GIS SpecialistLocation: Chicago, IL (On-site)Job Type: Contract (12+ months)Pay Rate: $30–$35/hourWe are seeking an Assistant GIS Specialist to support transmission line utility projects through GIS data development, mapping, and analysis. This role is ideal for someone with foundational GIS experience who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working with data from multiple sources in a fast-paced environment.In this role, you will assist with GIS mapping, data updates, and analysis while interpreting land documents such as deeds, easements, and permits. You will create and maintain GIS data and map layers using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, prepare project deliverables, and support land research and georeferencing efforts. You will also help track documentation and communicate project updates while working closely with internal teams.Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred) and experience using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.Experience with GPS, utility or fiber terminology, permitting processes, or reading engineering plans is a plus.This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday through Friday (40 hours per week). No travel is required.
