Job Title: Sr. Process Engineering Technician, ControlsDepartment: Process EngineeringReports To: Controls Engineering ManagerFLSA Status: Hourly – Non-exemptDate: 8/16/2023SUMMARY: The Sr. Process Engineering Technician, Controls supports manufacturing operations acting as a link between controls engineering and the shop floor technical activities. Assist in the testing, evaluation, and specification of new or existing company products. Individuals in this position are comfortable working virtually in a CAD, Drawing, or ERP environment as well as with their hands in a testing or production environment. Process Engineering Technicians in Controls are capable of working independently to accomplish many tasks and often take technical direction from lead engineers, Process Engineering leadership, and Controls Engineering leadership. Their scope of work includes increasing production efficiencies, operation time studies, production test apparatus, and other engineering deliverables as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Ensures that the correct drawings required by the shop floor personnel make it to the correct point of use (Drawings required include cut sheets, electrical schematics, wire diagrams, control box modification drawings)Create work instructions, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as requiredProvide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturingProvide field support of Company products as requiredImproves workflow within panel shop through C.I. initiatives including but not limited to Kaizen events, lean activities etc.Develop, document, and conduct training for testing protocols suitable for production environmentsThis position has an estimated travel requirement of 10% or less. Sometimes, travel can come on short notice and may include weekends or holidays.Provide field support of Company products as requiredPerforms other duties as assignedDevelop, debug, and support test apparatus in Operations to evaluate production equipmentSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no direct supervisory responsibility although individuals in this position will be expected in a Senior capacity to to provide technical guidance to peers or manufacturing shop staff regularly. This job requires supervision of projects and key company initiatives.QualificationsWorking knowledge of NFPA 70, National Electric Code, and NFPA 79, Electrical Standard for Industrial MachineryAbility to troubleshoot electrical control circuitsProficient with AutoCAD, ElectricalCompetent communicator with a wide array of cross functional staff in both office and manufacturing settingsGeneral working knowledge of PLC, HMI, and PC based control hardware and software. Able to maintain positive and professional relationships with all cross functional team membersEDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEAssociate’s Degree in electrical engineering field is required and an additional (7-10) years or relative experience is preferredLanguage SkillsEnglish as first language. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings / electrical schematics.Mathematical SkillsProficient in algebra and geometry as is required to solve engineering problems.Computer SkillsProficient with a 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorksProficient with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD, ElectricalProficient with Microsoft ExcelProficient with RS 5000Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employee spends some time on shop floor. The majority of the time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and use of the phone.Work EnvironmentWork environment is a pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. Personal workstation maybe located on 2nd floor. The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers’ plants reviewing new applications or on the installation, start-up and commissioning of company products. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection in most areas.
