Job TypePart-timeDescriptionSUMMARYThe Houseperson is responsible for the cleanliness of the guest rooms interior and exterior including guest patios, entrance areas for both the resort and the villas, linen closets, stairwells, walkways, pathways, trash rooms. Other responsibilities include deep cleaning, handling guest's requests stocking and removing linen, pressure washing, shampooing carpets, floor care and performing special projects. Houseperson contributes to the resort and villas commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponds promptly to requests from guests and other departmentsChecks pathways/stairwells for paper, insects, debris, cigarette butts, room service items, etc. Check all wall sconces for burnt out light bulbs. Sweep and damp mop floors. Clean signs and exterior lighting.Check public restrooms including pool areasPrepare pools based on rancho Valencia Standards and check periodicallyPick up work assignments from the Housekeeping Department and review any questions. Swipe ID card in/out and keys.Assist with stripping rooms as needed.Deliver guest request for housekeeping, calling them in as complete once they have been deliveredEnter guest rooms following procedures for gaining access and ensuring vacancy before enteringPick up dirty glasses and wash them according to Rancho Valencia standardsAssist supervisors with preparing all arrival roomsComplete all general cleaning assignments and any projects assigned by SupervisorsPick up all garbage and dirty linen from linen closets and take dirty linen to laundryCheck all public areas periodicallyDust, polish, and remove marks from walls and furnishingsVacuum carpets and perform floor care duties including but not limited to carpet shampooing and extracting, hard surface floor care, polishing, sealing and other deep cleaningFollow Rancho Valencia Resort service and standards guidelinesClean mirrors, windows, high and low dustingFollow all OSHA and MSDS rules and regulationsFollow all company safety and security policies and proceduresReport accidents, injuries and unsafe work environment to managerFollow all resort policies and procedures, ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professionalDevelop and maintain positive working relationship with othersSupport team to reach common goalsEnsure adherence to quality, expectations and standardsActively participates in Safety Programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior.Participates in and supports hotels efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives.Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSRequiredPrior housekeeping experience required, preferably in a luxury environmentFloor care experienceMust have schedule flexibility AM/PM, weekends and holidaysAbility to learn quickly and work in fast paced positionAbility to communicate in English with vendors, guests and staff to their understandingMust be able to multi-task gracefullyDesirablePrior Five Diamond resort experienceDynamic and personableSKILLSRequiredAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist.Ability to focus attention to details.Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.Ability to ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through.Ability to resolve problems using good judgmentTRAVEL REQUIREMENTSInfrequent local travel may be requiredPHYSICAL DEMANDSFrequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
