Pre-K through 6th School Counselor

A Pre-K through 6th grade (elementary) school counselor provides comprehensive, data-driven support for academic, social-emotional, and career development. They deliver individual/group counseling, teach classroom guidance lessons, facilitate conflict resolution, and collaborate with staff and parents to support student mental health and academic success.Key ResponsibilitiesCounseling & Support: Provide individual and small-group counseling, social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons, and crisis intervention.Academic & Career Development: Help students build organizational skills, test-taking strategies, academic goal-setting, and early career awareness.Collaboration & Advocacy: Work with teachers on classroom management/positive behavior interventions (PBIS) and partner with parents regarding child development.Assessment & Referrals: Identify student needs, conduct assessments, and refer families to community resources for more intensive support.School Culture: Create a safe, positive environment by promoting diversity and addressing bullying.Common DutiesConducting classroom guidance lessons on topics like bullying, friendship, and emotional regulation.Helping students develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills.Participating in school-wide initiatives and support teams (MTSS, IEP meetings).Communicating with parents/guardians about student behavioral or emotional concernMust have Master's Degree in School CounselingCompletion of the State of Alabama Counseling Certification*
