Location:Calvert, AL, USWe are seeking an experienced Mobile Equipment Technician to join our team in Calvert, North Mobile County, Alabama.The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of heavy mobile equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDFive years’ experience repairing heavy equipment or diesel machinery as Diesel mechanicCAT, Volvo, Komatsu, Sennebogen, or Liebherr equipmentCertification as Volvo Penta engine certificationWelding and fabrication experienceExperience in scrap, recycling, mining, logging, or industrial environmentsExperience with current application of CAN bus data communication and on-board diagnostic systems.Experience in supervision of other employees or Team Leader, Shop Foreman duties.Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systemsAbility to read service manuals and schematicsStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsValid driver’s licenseCompetencies And SkillsMechanical aptitudeProblem-solvingAttention to safetyTime managementCommunication and teamworkIndependent work capabilityJob ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on heavy mobile equipmentDiagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, brake, and transmission systemsInspect equipment for safety and operational issuesTroubleshoot mechanical failures and minimize equipment downtimeRepair or replace defective parts, components, and systemsMaintain maintenance logs, service records, and work ordersConduct welding and fabrication repairs when neededOperate diagnostic tools and service equipmentEnsure compliance with OSHA and company safety standardsRespond to emergency breakdowns in the yard or fieldKeep work areas clean and organizedPhysical RequirementsAbility to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standardsMust have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs and ramps) same as ability to walk long distances and demonstrate good balance on uneven terrain or maneuvering obstaclesAbility to withstand exposure to elevated ambient temperature for extended periods of timeMust be able to work in extreme heatExposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, dust and asphaltMust be able to work in a high noise environment where the use of hearing protection is requiredAbility to frequently use hand or fingers to handle or feel objects/materialsAbility to work in areas with strong magnetic fieldsBend, twist, lift, stand, walk, reach, see, move, and hear as required by specific position Ability to frequently reach with hands and armsMust be able to communicate utilizing radios, phones and/or intercom systems Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniquesAbility to safely use power and hand tools Ability to safely operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment for tasks and diagnostic purposes, including overhead cranes.
