Project Manager - Water & Wastewater

CJS Conveyance is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead water and wastewater conveyance projects throughout North Carolina. This role is responsible for managing projects from planning through construction, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and serving as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders.Successful candidates will demonstrate strong technical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development efforts. Typical projects include large diameter gravity sewer, water transmission mains, urban water and sewer replacements, elevated storage tanks, and pumping stations. Our philosophy is to involve Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept development and preliminary engineering through construction administration, to ensure continuity, efficiency, and strong client relationships. This is a full-time position with flexible hours and comprehensive benefits. ResponsibilitiesServe as Project Manager for water and wastewater conveyance projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and quality controlLead internal project teams and coordinate task assignments and deliverable productionServe as a primary point of contact with clients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, contractors, and the publicOversee preliminary engineering evaluations, technical reports, and facility planning effortsManage development of design documents including plans, specifications, and contract documentsReview and guide engineering analyses and design approaches prepared by project staffDirect preparation and submission of regulatory permit applications and coordinate with reviewing agenciesDevelop and manage opinions of probable construction cost and project schedulesLead bid phase services including pre-bid conferences, addenda, and bid openingsLead construction administration including review of RFIs technical submittals, pay applications, and other construction documents, and assist with field coordinationParticipate in proposal development, project interviews, and client presentationsContribute to the growth and development of our engineering team through participation in area recruitment and mentorship of junior staffSupport expanding business development efforts by building/maintaining client relationships, participating in networking events, and identifying new project opportunitiesQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited universityEight or more years of experience in water and wastewater engineering with demonstrated project management responsibilityLicensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE license through reciprocityExperience managing multiple projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teamsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAutoCAD experience with Civil 3D preferredFamiliarity with GIS or demonstrated ability to apply GIS tools in project deliveryStrong verbal communication and technical writing skillsValid driver’s license
