Dakota Station Assistant Manager

Job Description Salary: DOESUMMARY:The Assistant Managers primary responsibility is to oversee staff and services at Dakota Station. Responsibilities will include supervising staff, helping in kitchen area and/or working behind counter in a busy convenience store environment. This includes taking inventory, placing orders, scheduling, assisting with bookkeeping and other duties as needed.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.Supervise, schedule, and train convenience store staffProvide leadership to staff in order to monitor service and provide superior customer serviceOversee inventory control process and distribution of product to maximize profitEnsure all work assignments are completed dailyAssist manager with bookkeeping dutiesFollow and enforce all store policiesEnsure all areas of the store, both inside and outside are kept clean, free of dirt and clutter and monitor that proper cleaning procedures and materials are used to maintain a food service clean environmentMonitor and ensure that store staff has shelves, coolers and freezer stocked, rotated and front-faced to ensure freshness and quality of products and easy customer accessEnsure proper operation and maintenance of store equipmentMaintain any required food handlers certification/license as requiredMake sure all employees are trained using the prescribed materials, tools and processes and encourage staff to develop additional skillsCommunicate with store staff regarding new item information, processes and other information related to the operation of the storeEncourage teamwork and a positive work environmentOther duties as assigned by store managerQUALIFICATIONS:RequiredDemonstrated ability to lead a teamHigh School Diploma or equivalentPOS systems experience and money handling skillsExcellent customer service skills, both over the phone and in-personFood Handler Certification from state of Minnesota or ability to obtain within 3 months of employmentKnowledge of basic business practicesWillingness and flexibility to be available to work on all three shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary, and rotate on call hours with managerAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasksAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational skillsAbility to maintain strict standards of confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervisionAbility to work well within the existing team and government structureSensitive to Native American CultureMust pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background checkValid drivers license and proof of insurabilityPreferredAssociates or Bachelors degreeTwo (2) years of retail experienceSix (6) months of supervisory experienceKnowledgeable of back-office proceduresPHYSICAL DEMANDS:*Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsMust be able to stand or walk up to ten hours per day regularlyREQUIRED TRAINING:Effectively Handling Harassment trainingAny position-related training as determined by department managerWORKING ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily in a convenience store setting, but may include occasional outdoor activitiesDISCLAIMER AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:All Prairie Island Indian Community employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardshipThe Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance applies to this and all employment opportunities for the Community.
