Job Full DescriptionCustodial / Cleaning Technician - Senior & Government BuildingsPosition OverviewThe Cleaning Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within senior living facilities and government buildings. This role supports the health, comfort, and security of residents, staff, and visitors by performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks in compliance with facility standards and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral CleaningSweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areasClean and disinfect restrooms, break rooms, kitchens, and common areasEmpty trash and recycling containers and replace linersClean windows, glass doors, and interior partitionsMaintain floors through buffing, stripping, waxing, or carpet cleaning as neededSenior Facility-Specific DutiesSanitize high-touch surfaces to reduce infection riskFollow infection-control protocols and safety guidelinesMaintain a calm, respectful presence around residentsReport any safety hazards or concerns regarding resident well-beingGovernment Building-Specific DutiesFollow security procedures for restricted areasHandle confidential or sensitive spaces with discretionMaintain cleanliness in public service areas, offices, and meeting roomsEquipment & SuppliesOperate cleaning equipment such as floor machines, carpet extractors, and vacuumsMaintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment when neededEnsure proper storage and labeling of chemicalsSafety & ComplianceFollow OSHA, facility, and state safety regulationsUse proper PPE and safe chemical-handling proceduresReport maintenance issues, spills, or hazards immediatelyQualificationsPrevious custodial or janitorial experience preferredAbility to lift 25-50 lbs and perform physical tasksStrong attention to detail and reliabilityAbility to work independently and follow schedulesMust pass background checks required for government facilitiesGood communication and professionalism when interacting with seniors, staff, and the publicWork EnvironmentIndoor work in offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areasExposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noiseMay require evening, early morning, or weekend shifts depending on building needsWhy This Role MattersCleaners in senior and government buildings play a vital role in public health, safety, and community trust.
