Senior Database Administrator
RATE IS OPEN.
Plan, organize, and execute projects in support of WMATA's growing
information demands;
Ensure the effective use of WMATA resources;
Contribute to policies for effective process planning as it relates to new
requirements;
Plan, analyze, design, and submit reports and report interfaces intended for the
end user employing relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle;
Participate in short-term tactical planning;
Creating and managing databases. This includes creating new databases,
managing existing databases, and deleting unused databases;
Managing users and security. This includes creating and managing user
accounts, assigning permissions to users, and managing security policies;
Managing data. This includes importing and exporting data, backing up and
restoring data, and optimizing data performance;
Monitoring and troubleshooting the database. This includes monitoring the
database for performance problems, troubleshooting problems when they
occur, and tuning the database for optimal performance;
Minimum Requirements:
Proficient in the development of business information interfaces;
Knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle;
Experienced with large volumes of data;
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
Ability to represent Clients interests to other contractors.
Preferred Requirements
Knowledge of OLTP, OLAP, and Oracle, SQL Server;
Understanding of standard AIX, Linux Tools, and PHP; and
Graduate-level degree in Computer Science.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $47.24 - $100.00 per hour
