Real Estate Accountant
Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Real Estate Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse real estate portfolio, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use assets across multiple markets. This role will also assist with private investment reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting, reporting, and real estate financial management experience. Portfolio: Residential, Commercial, and Mixed-Use Properties (Manhattan, Long Island, Connecticut, and other regions) + Private InvestmentsKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AccountingPrepare monthly financial statements for multiple entities and propertiesComplete monthly bank reconciliations across various accountsRecord journal entries and adjusting entries in accordance with GAAPMaintain and reconcile general ledgersAccounts Payable & Cash ManagementReview and approve invoices for accuracy and proper codingCoordinate and process real estate tax payments and other property-related expensesMonitor cash balances and assist with cash flow trackingBudgeting & AnalysisAssist in the preparation of annual budgets for properties and investmentsPrepare quarterly variance reports (budget vs. actual) with explanationsSupport financial analysis related to property performance and investment returnsCompliance & FilingsPrepare and file RPIEs (Real Property Income & Expense statements) for NYC propertiesAssist with TC201 filings and other property-related tax formsCompile and provide financial reporting packages to lenders/banksEnsure compliance with local, state, and lender reporting requirementsInvestment & Portfolio SupportAssist in tracking and reporting on private investmentsSupport ad hoc analysis for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing activities QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field1-2+ years of experience in real estate accounting or financial analysisStrong understanding of real estate financials and property-level reportingFamiliarity with NYC real estate reporting (RPIE, property taxes, etc.) is a plusProficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)Experience with Yardi accounting software preferredSalary & BenefitsBase Salary: $85,000 – $105,000 (commensurate with experience)Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with employer participationPaid time off and holidays
