Forward Deployed Engineer

A hyper-growth AI startup is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to help deploy cutting-edge AI systems into production for enterprise customers.Having achieved multi seven-figure ARR in under a year and backed by Tier 1 investors, the business is looking for engineers who combine strong technical ability with exceptional client-facing skills. You’ll own enterprise AI deployments end to end, working directly with senior stakeholders while building production-ready AI solutions that have immediate commercial impact.Role: Forward Deployed EngineerSalary: $185,000 - $250,000Location: San Francisco (on-site)What you’ll be doingLead enterprise AI deployments from discovery through to productionAct as the primary technical contact for senior client stakeholders throughout implementationDesign, build and optimise multi-modal, agentic AI systems for real-world business use casesDevelop AI agents using prompt engineering, model integrations and AI-assisted development toolsBuild integrations using APIs and work closely with client engineering teamsCollaborate with the core product and platform teams to influence future product developmentTranslate customer challenges into scalable technical solutionsCapture implementation best practices to help scale the Forward Deployed Engineering functionWhat you’ll need2+ years’ commercial experience within a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Agent Engineer, Founding Engineer, Growth Engineer or similarly client-facing technical roleStrong commercial experience with Python and modern software engineering practicesExperience integrating systems using APIs and cloud platformsStrong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, agentic AI and modern AI toolingComfortable using AI-assisted development workflows to rapidly build and iterate solutionsExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong ownership mindset with the ability to independently solve complex customer problemsExperience managing enterprise customer relationships alongside hands-on engineering workAbility to move seamlessly between writing production code and leading customer conversationsThis role would suit an engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, solving technically challenging problems and deploying AI systems that deliver measurable business impact.
