Electromechanical Field Technician

Senior Service Technician/ Engineer - (Industrial Electromechanical Equip)Location: Annapolis, MD & Chester, MD - HQ's (onsite at HQ and customer sites)Travel: 20% (must be available to travel; 15-18% domestic and occasional 0-2% international)Role Type: Full-time, field-based; hands-on technical role with strong growth potentialSummaryWe're hiring an experienced Senior Field Service Technician/Engineer to commission, install, and service industrial electrical and mechanical equipment. Considering both degreed engineers and/or skilled Technicians. This role focuses on equipment commissioning (FAT/SAT), field repairs, customer training, and technical support. You'll work closely with sales, engineering, and customers to ensure reliable operation, uptime, and successful rollouts of new systems. No engineering degree required; PLC exposure and strong troubleshooting skills preferred. Significant opportunity to grow into operations or leadership roles.Job ResponsibilitiesService, Commission and start up industrial equipment - Electrical and Mechanical.Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and test complex industrial systems and subsystems.Perform electrical and mechanical installations, wiring (high/low voltage), and PLC wiring both in-house and in the field.Conduct R&D testing, equipment validation, and performance verification.Provide customer training and technical onboarding (operator training, SOPs, maintenance procedures).Recommend additional spare parts to clientsCreate clear, procedural documentation: field service reports, root-cause analyses, and technical manuals.Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation testers).Support rollout of new applications and product upgrades; collaborate with engineering on custom solutions.Provide timely customer communication and remote support (remote desktop tools).Generate service opportunities: preventive maintenance contracts and upsell leads.Maintain strict safety practices and compliance with site requirements.Be available for on-call rotation and emergency service as required.Minimum Qualifications & Skills5+ years servicing and troubleshooting industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, terminations, soldering, crimping, and cable selection.Practical PLC exposure (programming, I/O wiring, ladder logic troubleshooting) preferred.Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.Proficient with diagnostic tools and remote support software.Able to lift up to 50 lbs., install subsystems, and work in confined spaces.Outstanding verbal and written communication; comfortable training customers and interacting with all organizational levels.Strong problem-solving, critical decision-making, and attention to detail.Valid driver's license and passport (or ability to obtain immediately).Comfortable traveling on short notice and providing 24/7 support when required.Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn service management software.Preferred AttributesTechnical certifications (electrical, PLC, industrial controls, or similar).Experience with FAT/SAT processes and documentation.Background in mechanical assembly, pneumatics, or motion control a plus.Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision and adapts quickly to changing priorities.Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.No prior leadership experience required, role offers pathways into operations or management.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary + expensesCompany-provided business card, mobile phone, and laptop.Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, paid holidays, and additional perks.Ongoing technical training and certification support; strong internal promotion opportunities.
