Computer Numerical Control Programmer

An industry-leading plastic and aerospace manufacturer is seeking a Senior CNC Programmer / Engineer to join its Operations Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CNC manufacturing professional to play a key role in developing advanced machining processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting the production of high-precision aerospace components.The successful candidate will combine strong CNC programming expertise with a passion for process optimisation, emerging technologies, and advanced manufacturing. Working closely with engineering and production teams, you will be responsible for developing machining strategies, selecting tooling and equipment, and improving manufacturing performance across complex multi-axis machining operations.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, modify, and optimise CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining operations supporting aerospace and precision manufacturing applications.Create and maintain efficient machining processes using CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar platforms.Design, qualify, and implement cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding solutions to improve manufacturing performance and repeatability.Establish and refine machining parameters, tooling strategies, and coolant delivery systems to maximise productivity, tool life, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish quality.Utilise CNC simulation and verification software to validate machining processes, prevent collisions, and improve process reliability.Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and 3D CAD models to develop accurate and compliant manufacturing programs.Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, quality enhancement, and cost optimisation.Research and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies, tooling solutions, and machining best practices.Support the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of new CNC machinery and capital equipment investments.Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to improve process capability and production performance.Ensure all machining processes comply with aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.Minimum 7 years of CNC programming and machining experience within aerospace, defence, or other high-precision manufacturing environments.Experience programming and supporting 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining operations.Strong knowledge of plastics machining and precision manufacturing processes.Experience working with CNC machine platforms such as Zimmermann, CMS, Makino, DMG MORI, Mazak, Okuma, or Haas.Proficiency with Siemens SINUMERIK, Fanuc, and Mazatrol control systems.Advanced CAD/CAM experience using Siemens NX, CATIA, Mastercam, or similar software.Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing interpretation.Experience with CNC simulation and verification software such as VERICUT.Proven ability to drive process improvements, optimise machining strategies, and implement new technologies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.BenefitsCompetitive salary of $110,000 - $150,000.Annual bonus opportunity of up to 10%.Comprehensive healthcare and insurance benefits.Retirement savings programme.Paid vacation and company holidays.Employee assistance and wellbeing programmes.Career development opportunities within a global aerospace manufacturing environment.
