Summary
Applied Optoelectronics Inc. (AOI) is a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced optical and Radio Frequency (RF) products, including components, modules, and equipment. AOI's products are the building blocks for broadband access networks worldwide, where they are used in the internet data center, CATV broadband, telecom, and FTTH markets. AOI supplies both customized and OEM/ODM components and equipment in all four of these markets. In addition to its corporate headquarters, wafer fab, and advanced engineering and production facilities in Sugar Land, TX, AOI has an R&D lab in Atlanta, Georgia, and engineering and manufacturing facilities in Taipei, Taiwan, and Ningbo, China.
R&D Laboratory in Atlanta, GA has an opening for a R&D Program Manager. This Program Manager would be responsible for driving the various programs/projects within the team. These projects contain both hardware and software, and a blend of Waterfall and Agile processes are used. There are presently four main inter-related projects that fall under a larger program umbrella. These projects utilize mainly engineering resources in the Atlanta office, and also engineering resources in our Houston and China locations.
Job Duties
Creating, tracking, and maintaining project and program schedules, identifying key inter-dependencies, and driving open actions to completion
Managing and tracking day-to-day project activities to ensure alignment to project plans, including periodic meetings with teams in Asia in the evenings (EST)
Identifying and resolving roadblocks
Guiding and tracking the NPI (New Product Introduction) team to ensure a smooth transition of the individual products into manufacturing
Developing presentations for senior management and customers regarding project progress
Qualifications
10+ years project / program management experience in a R&D Engineering environment for Mass Production Products
Proven team builder, mentor, and trusted advisor
Successful record of delivering R&D products through the development process from ideation to mass production
Experience leading projects using Waterfall, Agile, and blended development methodologies
Experience with MS Project, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence or similar tools
PMP, PLI-ACP and/or other project management certifications preferred
BS/MS in Engineering or related fields
Location
This position will be on-site based in Duluth, GA.
