Engineering Analyst

Job Description An Engineering Analyst is expected to provide technical support to project managers and senior engineering staff on a wide range of engineering analysis and condition assessment projects involving power plant steam piping, headers, tubing, turbines, and other critical mechanical equipment. The Engineering Analyst plays an integral role in supporting multidisciplinary project teams and contributes to the evaluation of potential failure mechanisms, identification of high-risk locations, assessment of remaining component life, prioritization of inspection activities, and determination of the current condition of in-service equipment.This role supports condition assessment projects from initial scoping through execution and reporting and includes opportunities to participate in and support field assessments at customer facilities. Over time, the Engineering Analyst may assume increasing technical responsibility and project ownership, including leading defined technical tasks and supporting overall project management efforts. This position offers strong technical development and growth opportunities while contributing to high quality engineering solutions that help ensure the safe, reliable, and long-term operation of critical energy and industrial infrastructure.Primary Responsibilities:Assist with engineering analysis and condition assessment projects involving power plant and industrial mechanical componentsCreate representative solid models and drawings of equipment using SolidWorks or other softwarePerform thermal and structural finite element analyses using commercial software such as ANSYS and AbaqusSupport ASME Code calculations, fitness-for-service evaluations, and remaining life assessmentsWork with engineering and inspection data to evaluate component condition, damage mechanisms, and inspection prioritiesAssist with field assessments at customer sites, including supporting nondestructive examination activities such as metallurgical replication, hardness testing, and advanced ultrasonic methodsPrepare and contribute to technical reports, calculations, and client presentations documenting findings and recommendationsSupport project execution activities, including data review, documentation, and coordination with engineering and inspection teamsAssist with internal engineering initiatives focused on process improvement, methodology development, automation, and technical quality enhancementsRequired Skills/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline0–3 years of engineering experience (internship, co-op, or professional experience preferred)Interest in mechanical systems, stress analysis, and solving complex technical problemsCoursework or exposure to finite element analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, or heat transfer preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with databases, programming, or automation tools is a plusFamiliarity with ANSYS, Abaqus, and/or SolidWorks preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and qualityAbility to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formatsWillingness to learn, take initiative, and support a variety of engineering tasksExpected to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensureTravel and Working ConditionsApproximately 25% travel annually, primarily during scheduled plant outage periodsField work at power generation and industrial facilities, with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidityMay require working at moderate heights and in confined spaces.Must be able to meet site access requirements, including respirator fit testing, physicals, and drug screeningExport Control Notice:Certain positions at SIA may require access to information and technology which is subject to ExportAdministration Regulations 15 CFR 730-774, including those of the US Department of Energy (DOE) in 10 CFR 810 and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) 10 CFR Part 110.
