Our ideal candidate is someone who values language acquisition, cultural understanding, and global awareness, and believes in the power of communication to connect people and ideas. This teacher will engage students in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish through meaningful, culturally relevant instruction that prepares them for success beyond the classroom.In this role, you'll design lessons that immerse students in the Spanish language and culture, guide them in developing strong communication skills, and create a classroom environment where confidence and curiosity thrive. A strong working knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Languages Other Than English (LOTE) at the high school level is essential to ensure instruction aligns with state standards and student learning goals. You'll also play an active role in building a positive school culture through collaboration, consistent communication, and a commitment to the growth of every learner.Key Responsibilities:* Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with TEKS and campus curriculum standards.* Teach Spanish language skills including listening, speaking, reading, and writing in ways that challenge and motivate students.* Incorporate cultural connections to deepen students' understanding of Spanish-speaking communities.* Review and implement accommodations or modifications outlined in students' IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring equitable access to instruction.* Collaborate with special education staff and support teams to meet the needs of all learners.* Use a variety of instructional strategies to reach diverse learning styles and academic levels.* Assess and monitor student progress to inform instruction and provide meaningful feedback.* Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment built on respect and high expectations.* Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and administrators to support student success.* Participate in campus events, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Foreign Language Education, Secondary Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).* Strong knowledge of TEKS for high school Spanish (Languages Other Than English) and effective implementation strategies.* Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.* A genuine passion for helping students grow as confident communicators and culturally aware individuals.Preferred Qualifications:* Texas teaching certification (preferred but not required).* Experience teaching or supporting student learning in a secondary classroom setting, with demonstrated impact on student achievement.Compensation:* Starting competitive salary, commensurate with experience and education.* Annual increases based on verified years of teaching service.* Official service record must be provided upon hire to determine placement on the pay scale.How to Apply:Interested candidates should complete the 2026-2027 TXEA Applicant Intake Form and submit the following to hr@txea.org:* Current resume.* Contact information for three professional references.Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION: In keeping with our beliefs and goals, no employee or applicant will face discrimination/ harassment based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/ domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or veteran status.
