Data Governance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to lead the development and implementation of enterprise data governance strategies and frameworks. This role supports data governance initiatives from project planning through proof-of-concept, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.Key Responsibilities:Data Governance Strategy & FrameworkPartner with leadership, data owners, and stakeholders to align and support data governance initiativesDevelop enterprise data governance strategy, framework, and project-specific governance plansEstablish policies, standards, and procedures for managing data across the organizationData Quality & CompliancePropose and implement solutions to improve data accuracy, consistency, and integrityEnsure alignment with data security laws, regulations, and industry standardsSupport development of data quality metrics and reporting mechanismsStakeholder Engagement & TrainingCollaborate with IT teams, business owners, and external stakeholdersDevelop and deliver training materials on data governance best practicesProvide guidance on governance processes and adoptionDocumentation & Process ManagementCreate detailed documentation of governance processes, procedures, and standardsSupport implementation of governance tools and frameworksContribute to project planning and governance-related deliverablesRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in data governanceExperience conducting project readiness assessments for data systems in public sector, law enforcement, or similar environmentsExperience developing procurement strategies for technology modernization initiatives involving data systemsExperience designing and implementing data governance frameworks for large organizationsStrong understanding of data policies, standards, and regulatory complianceBachelor’s degree
