Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Hydro’s aluminum remelting facility in Henderson, KY produces over 90,000 metric tons of metal annually. We are looking to expand our team by adding a qualified Materials/ Planning General Supervisor to our highly engaged workforce.
Position: Receiving and Shipping Specialist
Job Location: Henderson, KY
Reports to: Materials Manager
Summary: The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for coordinating the accurate, timely, and safe movement of materials and finished goods in and out of the facility. This role supports daily operations by scheduling inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and working closely with production, logistics partners, and internal teams.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate outbound shipments to customers and other facilities
Prepare and verify shipping documents (BOLs, packing slips, labels)
Schedule carriers and confirm pickup and delivery times
Ensure shipments meet quality, quantity, and safety requirements
Communicate shipment status and resolve shipping issues
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies
Match deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips
Enter receipts into inventory and ERP systems
Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies promptly
Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation
Support cycle counts and inventory audits
Coordinate with production, materials, and warehouse teams
Follow all safety, environmental, and company procedures
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required, additional education a plus
2+ years of shipping, receiving, or logistics experience preferred
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
Familiarity with ERP systems, shipping software, and basic computer skills
Strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Physical and Work Environment Demands:
Work is mostly performed in a climate-controlled setting.
Could be exposed to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Ability to lift, push, and pull moderate weights as required for shipping and receiving tasks.
Sitting, walking, and/or bending for extended periods as required.
