Geotechnical Engineer Intern

Position OverviewBowser-Morner has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer intern position at our Toledo, Ohio office. The successful candidate will have a passion for working on a wide variety of projects including geotechnical engineering, slope stability analyses, field investigations and construction observation. Candidates must also be client-focused, motivated, and confident.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with Geotechnical engineering projects including field observations, documentation and recommendations.Various engineering programs including slope stability, hydrology, and sheet pile design application.Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing and evaluation of respective data.Works closely with Senior Engineers to gain project management and engineering experience.Prepares work Scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by Senior Engineers.Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project status.Analyze data and perform engineering calculations for Senior Engineer review.Maintain quality standards on all projects.Assist in developing scope of work for routine projects.AutoCAD support for various engineering and environmental projects.Education and Experience• Working towards B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in the geotechnical engineering field, or related field from accredited college or university.EIT is desire, if not obtained , at least on track to obtainSkills and Abilities• Excellent communication skills• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, and other software typically associated with engineering preferred.• Strong math skills• Clean driving recordReporting Relationships• Manager Toledo EngineeringPhysical RequirementsPhysical Ability• Stand, walk, push, climbing; lift minimum of 80 poundsVisual Ability• Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of jobHearing Ability• Ability to monitor sounds for changes in machine functionWork Conditions• Office and construction site settings• Work exposes the employee to traffic hazards and the hazards of construction sites including dangers of moving heavy equipment, inclement weather conditions, and high noise levels.
