We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Program Director /Assistant Camp Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of YMCA Camp Ocoee and the Adventure Guide/Princess Program. RESPONSIBILITES: Provides leadership and vision to the daily activities and programs to ensure a quality camp experience that achieves the outcomes set by the camp board and association. Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development and evaluation. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Works directly with the Executive Director to train employees on camp policies and association requirements. Supervises the daily activities of the staff throughout the summer and school year. Collaborates with the Executive Director in developing, managing and monitoring the operating budget and meeting budget targets. Provides supervision and leadership to the operations and staffing of the Health Center and Food Service operations. Maintains records accurately and in compliance with approved guidelines and standards of the association and ACA. Responsible for inventory and purchasing of recreational and other camp supplies. Provides leadership and vision to the Group/Conference program. Develops, coordinates and assists with implementation of marketing strategies to attract campers, groups and conferences. Handles billing and accounts receivable for Groups/Conference and Adventure Program. Serves on rotating schedule as weekend manager on duty for weekends throughout the year. Provides leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga Adventure Guide/Princess program. Coordinates events, circles, marketing, programs and volunteer training for Adventure Guide/Princess program. Participates in the execution of the annual Community Support campaign. Attends branch and association staff meetings and training as required. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a resident camp setting strongly preferred Professional oral and written communication skills Broad knowledge of camp programming, including climbing, high ropes, water skiing, swimming, boating, cabin life, evening programs, etc. Demonstrated ability to work with children, teens, families, and other staff Must display conflict resolution skills, sound judgement, initiative and independent thinking Must display high degree of professionalism/customer service and exemplify YMCA values Computer proficiency including use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and overnights Willingness to live onsite during summer camp season and weekends as needed Ability to pass a background check including valid US Driver’s License PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the job Standing, walking on uneven surfaces (up to 5 miles per day); sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling crouching, crawling, talking, hearing. Must be able to lift up to 90 pounds with assistance. The employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and must be able to work outside during heat of summer and in winter cold. Withstand the outdoors, including varying weather conditions and environments that include dust, pollen, insects, etc. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate. A BETTER US STARTS WITH U!
