Working within the Technology & Innovation Laboratory, this position is responsible for formulating, testing, and evaluating advanced coating systems and raw materials. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring solutions from concept through commercialization. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, creativity in problem-solving, and a passion for scientific excellence.ResponsibilitiesWork in cross-functional teams to develop new coatings technologies and evaluate new polymers Design and execute experiments for paints and coatings formulations and testing to meet targeted objectivesDocument and summarize experimental results in electronic lab notebooksAnalyze data, report results, and recommend next stepsUse analytical tools to solve problems and find solutionsParticipate in plant scale upsCollaborate with Procurement for evaluating new and alternate materialsManage raw materials for the labMaintain lab equipment and shared work spaceOther duties as assignedQualificationsBS in Chemistry or related fieldTwo or more years of working experience in a chemistry labKnowledge of paint, coatings, and related raw materialsEfficient at summarizing technical data and presenting resultsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsCapable of working on multiple projects simultaneouslySelf-starter and ability to take initiative and drive toward resultsAttention to detail and scientific rigorComfortable working in teams, sharing data, and communicating effectivelyExtremely organizedMinimum Requirements:Physical effort and dexterity : This role can entail some amount of lifting (40-50lbs)Environment and scheduling : This role can involve scale-ups at manufacturing facilities that may be hot or cold depending on the time of year. In these instances, more noise may be encountered (noise protection is supplied). Chemicals are used in the polymer making process (proper PPE is outlined and supplied).
