This internship is designed for Grand Valley High School students (age 16+) who wish to gain hands-on experience in childcare and education while building leadership, communication, and professional skills. Other days may be available based on needs and intern's availability.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Provides childcare on Mondays at a school location in coordination with the Cardinal Club Director and/or other assigned staff.Supervises and engages children in age-appropriate games, activities, crafts, and structured play.Ensures a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all children.Models positive behavior and supports children in resolving minor conflicts.Maintains confidentiality regarding students and families.Performs other duties as required or assigned.Maintains regular and reliable attendance.Knowledge of:Communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.Positive behavior support and basic child supervision strategies.Organizational skills in handling and directing multiple activities and transitions.Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with school aged children.High level of energy and good sense of humor.Skill in:Responsibility, reliability, and follow-through with tasks and commitments.Oral communications.Supervising and engaging children in structured and unstructured settings.Collaborative teamwork.Creative problem-solving and adaptability when working with children.EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
