Middle Software Development Engineer in Test (Python)
About The Role In this role, you will design and develop automated testing solutions for embedded software, hardware-integrated systems, and end-to-end device workflows, working closely with engineering teams and customer stakeholders. You will help ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of innovative healthcare technologies used in medical devices and diagnostic solutions. This is an opportunity to apply modern automation practices to products that directly support patient care in a regulated environment.
The role is based in Wroclaw or Lviv, as it requires periodic access to engineering labs and hands-on work with physical medical devices.
Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites using Python and Pytest
Create and execute automated tests for embedded software, medical devices, and hardware-software integrated systems
Validate device functionality, communication interfaces, APIs, databases, and end-to-end system workflows
Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and support system verification and validation activities
Investigate test failures, analyze device logs, and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues
Enhance test automation infrastructure, improve execution efficiency, and expand test coverage
Collaborate with software engineers, QA teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure product quality and compliance
Track, verify, and report defects, test results, and quality metrics
Participate in regular communication with US-based customer teams
Requirements 2–4 years in test automation, including development and maintenance of frameworks using Python and Pytest
Background testing embedded software, medical devices, or hardware-software integrated systems
Hands-on work with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and system-level verification activities
Understanding of embedded software, firmware, device drivers, and hardware-software interactions
Knowledge of communication interfaces such as USB, RS-232, and TCP/IP
Strong understanding of system, integration, verification, and validation testing methodologies
Familiarity with REST API testing, backend services, and SQL databases
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
Skilled in log analysis, test failure investigation, and integration troubleshooting
Understanding of software verification processes within regulated environments
Knowledge of Qt/Squish for desktop application test automation (is a plus)
